"American Idol" is apparently looking for some indie cred...and I'm not sure why. Instead of the finalists getting in their new Ford hybrids and singing Lady Gaga or Maroon 5, they have chosen a cut from The Apples In Stereo's latest album, New Magnetic Wonder. The only reason people would know the song "Energy" is that is was used in a Pepsi commercial earlier this year.
I guess you can't blame them for allowing Pepsi to use their song - They have been a band since the early 90's and I'm sure being part of the Elephant 6 collective doesn't exactly pay the bills (unless, maybe, you are Jeff Mangum).
